What is Email Archiving
Email Archiving is designed for long-term retention and discovery, not just backups.
It helps with:
- recovering lost messages
- finding historical conversations
- responding to audits or internal investigations
- preserving mail after mailbox changes or deletions
How MXGuardian Email Archiving works
When Email Archiving is enabled for a domain:
- All inbound and outbound messages are retained automatically
- Messages remain searchable even after users are removed
- Deleted messages can still be found during the retention period
- Retention is enforced consistently across the domain
Archiving runs quietly in the background — there’s nothing users need to do, and no changes to mail flow.

Available options:
- 1-Year Retention – ideal for short-term recovery and basic record keeping
- 3-Year Retention – designed for long-term visibility, audits, and peace of mind
You can upgrade retention at any time, and billing automatically adjusts based on your user count.

How to enable Email Archiving
If you’re already using MXGuardian:
- Log in to the MXGuardian control panel
- Select the domain you want to archive
- Choose Enable Archiving and select a retention period
- Confirm the upgrade
