Configuring Exchange 2000/2003 to Relay Outbound Mail | MXGuardian

In order to route all outbound mail through MX Guardian, you must configure Exchange 2000/2003 to use a smarthost. 

1. Open Exchange System Manager

2. Click the plus sign next to Connectors to expand it.
   1. If you are using Small Business Server (SBS) you will already have a connector called “SmallBusiness SMTP Connector”. Right-click this connector and click Properties.
   2. If you don’t already have a connector, right-click Connectors and select New -> SMTP Connector. Give the connector a name such as “MX Guardian SMTP Connector”
3. On the General tab, select “Forward all mail through this connector to the following smart hosts” 

4. Enter “smtp.mxguardian.net” in the box and click Add
5. Select your Exchange server and click Add
6. On the Address Space tab, click Add
7. Select SMTP and click OK.

8. Enter the following values and click OK
   1. Email domain: *
   2. Cost: 1

9. Under “Connector Scope”, select Entire Organization

10. Click OK and close Exchange System Manager
11. Open the Services control panel
12. Restart the following services for the changes to take effect:
    1. Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine
    2. Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP)
